1231 Photodynamic therapy in melanoma treatment: An update review

چکیده
Melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer due to its highly metastatic nature. Despite advancements in target and immunotherapies, prognosis late-stage melanoma (stage III IV) remains poor. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) kills cells selectively by generating singlet oxygen reactive species after photoactivation a photosensitizer cell. The aim this study review clinical reports that use PDT treat melanoma. This searched term “photodynamic AND melanoma” PubMed (MEDLINE), Cochrane, Web Science databases from inception July 2022. demographics treatment outcomes using as either monotherapy or combination with other therapies were evaluated. Initially, 1169 articles analyzed. After excluding animal vitro studies, total 28 patients 4 included study. male-to-female ratio was 0.75:1 mean age 59.1 years old at first diagnosis. Lower extremities (14 cases, 50.0%) affected initial sites, followed head neck (6 21.4%), trunk (5 17.9%), upper (3 10.7%). Cutaneous metastasis noted 18 (64.3%). Chlorin e6 ICG are two mainly used photosensitizers. Most (n=23, 82.1%) reached complete response single multiple cycles treatment, 2 (7.1%) had partial response. side effects related mild including local erythema tolerable pain. overall 2-year survival rate 57.1%, while 5-year 21.4%. results suggest may be potential adjuvant for limited small sample size, more needed confirm results.

Photodynamic therapy in melanoma--an update.
Melanoma, a cancer that arises from melanocytes is one of the most unresponsive cancers to known therapies. Several studies showed encouraging results of the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) using different experimental settings in vitro and in vivo as well as a few clinical reports, suggesting a possible role as an adjuvant therapy in the management of advanced melanoma (stage III and IV...

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a clinically approved, minimally invasive therapeutic procedure that can exert a selective cytotoxic activity toward malignant cells. The procedure involves administration of a photosensitizing agent followed by irradiation at a wavelength corresponding to an absorbance band of the sensitizer. In the presence of oxygen, a series of events lead to direct tumor cell ...

Role of Photodynamic Therapy in the Treatment of Oral Cancer: A Review
Oral cancer is a major public health problem worldwide and is among the ten most common cancers. Despite the advances in research and treatment, oral cancer is still one of the major challenges in medical science. Common treatments for this cancer include surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, as well as adjuvant photodynamic therapy (PDT). The aim of this study was to evaluate oral cancer an...
